Time clauses and main clauses

1. As times-clauses são cláusulas subordinadas:

When you arrive(time-clause), I will finish my homework(main clause).

    2. Elas têm no mínimo um sujeito e um verbo.

When (conjunção) you (sujeito) arrive (verbo), I will ask you a question

    3. O verbo da time clause é normalmente um verbo no presente simples. O verbo na cláusula principal fica normalmente no futuro.

When you arrive, we will have lunch. (futuro)

Quando eles são escritos antes da cláusula principal, eles são seguidos por vírgulas.

• By the time I finish, It will be one o'clock.

Conjugações e expressões introduzindo uma proposição temporal:

• When - When it stops raining, I'll take the dog out.
• The moment - The moment I saw her, I fell in love.
• As soon as - As soon as you arrive, I will tell you the news.
• Before - I will arrive home before you finish your homework.
• After - I will leave for school after you finish your homework.
• By the time - By the time we arrive, it will be dark.
• Till - I will stay till you arrive.
• Until - I will stay until you arrive.
